Student Voices

In the process of writing my cultural inquiry, I found a passage in Becoming One Community that has stuck with me:

"The best classrooms are the ones in which the students use language more than the teacher."

Student voices are a very important part of our classroom community. Throughout the day every day, voices of students are heard. Students often engage in pair shares, small group discussions, and classroom discussions. My CT and I purposefully pose questions to foster engagement and discussion with students. We ask what students know about a topic, what they're thinking, and what their ideas are. Student responses and input are not only validated, they are encouraged. In this blog, I will highlight in RED where you can see examples of student voice in the classroom.
