First Day of School

I had my first day of student teaching at St. Brigid's Girls National School yesterday. It is the sister school to St. Anthony's Boys National School across the street (where I was originally placed). At St. Brigid's I will mostly be in the Junior Infants room. Junior Infants is the equivalent of Pre-Kindergarten (4 and 5 year olds). The school system in Ireland is broken in
into:

Primary School
Junior Infants - ages 4&5
Senior Infants- ages 5&6
1st Class
2nd Class
3rd Class
4th Class
5th Class
6th Class

Secondary School
1st Year
2nd Year
3rd Year
4th Year (transition year- where students go on lots of trips and take elective-type classes)
5th Year
6th Year

The girls are absolutely adorable! So sweet with their little accents. When I was introduced, my host teacher had the girls guess where I am from. They were guessing places like Australia and Africa, so the teacher had them sing their continent song to jog their memories about some other places to guess. It was very cute. I'm there all day again today and will post more about my classroom and school later.

Your school is adorable! I love the daffodils out front! Way to endure the crowds on St. Patrick's Day and get all decked out!

So which grade(s) are you helping with? Glad to hear you are having such a great time over there. Erin and I thought one of my friends was playing a prank on me when we heard your message. It was really scratchy and sounded like a high-pitched man named Wayne or something wishing me a happy birthday with love.
